Licked into Submission- African American Erotica

Licked into Submission…?? What the…? What is this!? Yes, I know. It’s a heck of a title right? And just looking at the title, you can only imagine what the book is about, right? Well for those of you who have read A Thug’s Life Revisited, you were lucky enough to get the sneak preview at the end of that awesome read. All I’ma say is, somebody finna get pregnant from this book and it ain’t gonna be me!

So how exactly does a person get licked into submission? Mannnn listen! It’s kinda like being dickmatized except it’s worse ESPECIALLY if the man is bringing good dick with him as well. Ladies, let’s all be adult now. I’m sure we’ve all had that guy that we promised ourselves we would never touch again not even on our most desperate night and all it took was for a song to come on the radio that made us reflect back to an encounter we’ve had with this man and before you know it, we’re texting, talking, licking, sucking and the rest is history. That man is always the toxic man, the one momma never warned us about because chances are she was battling the aDICKtion or she was licked into submission her damn self. That man is poison, no good for us, but got damn it he can do some fierce things with his tongue and we just can’t stay away.

Have I been licked into submission? Ha! Wouldn’t you like to know? I wouldn’t say I was licked into submission per-say but he who shall be renamed BLACK ASS could win a gold medal in the Hugh Hefner cunnilingus Olympics and they would have to create a platinum medal for him for the fuck-a-thon. *Shrugs* It is what it is.

Needless to say, I’m throwing my hat in the ring for writing a hot sex book. I mean a book so hot and so juicy, you may need to sit with a spray bottle and spritz yourself with cold water while you’re reading. I say, load up on some condoms and make sure you got your depo shot on time LOL because it’s about to get real!

African American Erotica books can be tricky as you do not want to come off as raunchy, without class, promiscuous and slutty… well… at least I don’t. While I advocate being sexually uninhibited and think that women should not be ashamed of their sexual appetite if it is a hefty one regardless of how men try to stigmatize those who do have one with labeling them as hoes (meanwhile their body count could fill a fucking grave yard but that ain’t none of my business though LOL) I still think a level of class should be placed in books that contain a lot of sex scenes. Is it possible to be classy and raunchy at the same time? Hell yes! Duality is a talent like a mug! I think books that are in the erotica genre should not be focused solely on descriptive, juicy sex scenes but should still contain a plot. After all, without a plot or a point to the story, it’s pretty much a literary porno. So I’m taking my time with this.

How about a taste? You think you can handle it. Chilllllle Listen, I had to take a break after the first five pages. Keep in mind I’m single with no one to take my (clears throat) frustrations out on while writing this book LOL. First, check out this BOMB ass cover that I did and comment letting me know what you think.liscover2I’m so excited to be doing this book! I can’t wait until I finish and it’s ready to be released to the world. I was hoping to have it done by the summer but, we shall see! In the meantime, feast your eyes on this…

Shadows of the candles’ flames danced on the wall as the scent of coconut oil and Jasmine scented flowers filtered throughout the room. But, those scents were being out-done by the over- powering aroma of sex infiltrating my bedroom.

J-Holiday crooned through the surround-sound in my bedroom and I could curse his fine ass right now because I was definitely being put to bed… bed… bed. I promised myself that I wouldn’t do this again, that I wouldn’t allow myself to be seduced into being Carmelo’s bed wench again because it doesn’t seem like the situationship that we’ve gotten tangled up in is a good idea. For some reason, R-Kelly is in my head right now because my mind was definitely telling me no. But my body… yeah, my body was telling… no screaming yes. Yes! Lawd, yes! Hell, my body was speaking languages I’d never known after feeling Carmelo’s warm, wet tongue twirling, swirling, and flickering back and forth across my clit to the beat of J-Holiday’s song “Bed”.

My hands were tied with silken, white scarves to the Maplewood headboard attached to my king sized bed. While I usually don’t allow myself to be in this kind of state of vulnerability, the way Carmelo’s pussy licking technique is set up, I don’t mind being vulnerable for one more night. And ahhh, there lies the problem. But that explanation is going to have to wait… one… minute…

Damn, Carmelo just pushed my legs back to my chest with his arms hooked around them so I couldn’t run and his tongue is giving my pussy the tongue thrashing that it craves. My back arched against the black silk sheets and my arms yanked at the silken scarves wanting desperately to grab ahold of something, preferably the back of his head so I could grind my pussy all over his mouth. Not being able to do so was driving me mad.

I felt his fingers exploring my tight wetness, going in and out as he licked and sucked me into an orgasmic heaven and my God did I cum so hard once he began sucking on my clit and pushing his fingers in deep enough to hit my G-Spot. I don’t know what was hotter, the fact that he could do with his fingers what most men can’t do with their dicks, or the devilish look on his face as he stared at me while he lapped up my cunt juices like a cat would lap up cream.

I breathed deeply as I looked down at him, sure that he was going to untie me so I could return the favor. As the saying goes: one good lick deserves another and he definitely deserved to have his dick devoured whole. But instead, he positioned himself on his knees in between my legs as he held his thick, throbbing, black, rock-hard, nine-inch dick. I stared like a wide-eyed child seeing a plethora of gifts under the Christmas tree. And in my mind I was thinking, “Oh shit, he brought dick with him, too!” Life is good…

Carmelo grabbed my legs and put them up over his shoulders never taking his eyes off of me, which always made the sex between us so damn hot. These damn silk scarves were in the way. I wanted to grab the dick myself and put it in. I wanted to grab his ass and feel those tight, muscular glutes flexing as he pumped that big, black ding-a-ling deep inside of my tight, wet tunnel. But he wanted me to take it how he gave it. And judging by that hungry, animalistic look in his eyes, he was about to beat this pussy up something fierce.

I gasped when I felt him enter me slow and deep. With my ankles atop his shoulders, he pushed my knees back to my chest and gave me a long, wet, sensuous kiss, with his tongue dancing around my mouth so I could taste the sweet flavor of my nectar on him. And then he went to work. I lost count of how many times I came. By the time it was over, my toes were throwing up gang signs and I was sure I was about to slip into an orgasmic coma, too.

Carmelo untied my wrists from the headboard and they fell limp on top of my chest as I struggled to gain control of my breathing. I had cum so hard and so many times, the black silk sheets beneath me were soak and wet. He pulled me into his arms and kissed my ear as I slowly began to come down off of my erotic high.

“You good, Tavia?” he asked me in his sexy voice that could send my kitten in an uproar just hearing it.

I nodded my head. “Oh yeah,” I said with a grin. He intertwined our fingers and kissed my ear again and before I knew it, I could tell he had fallen asleep by the sounds of his slow, deep breathing.

“Fuck!” I cursed myself. “This mofo was not supposed to spend the night. That wasn’t the plan. He was supposed to be moonwalking his ass to the 6 bus stop right now! Damn, I done fucked up again!” I shook my head in disgust as I came to the realization that I had once again allowed this man’s ability to fuck like a porn star trying to win a gold medal in the Hugh Hefner Olympics and eat pussy like a Cunnlingus king, lick his way into my heart, lick his way into my bed… and lick me into submission. Shame on it all!

Love’s Deadly Masquerade Recent Review- Da Fuck?

Alright, y’all finna see a side to Yani that you’ve never seen before. Today was a good day. I went to this event – Philly Girls Jump at Awbury Park and planned on posting a blog entry about it tomorrow after my hips, thighs, ass, back, shoulders and arms stopped hurting from all of the vigorous double dutching that I’d done with some really awesome women that I met today (along with my sisters, daughter and niece) I should be in bed right now resting my sore bones. Instead I’m about to roast this bitch who just left the dumbest and most ridiculous review on Love’s Deadly Masquerade. Her name is Joanne R. Greene.

Every night before I go to bed, I check on book placement, ratings and then do a little promoting to generate book sales throughout the night while I sleep. So imagine my surprise when I go to Love’s Deadly Masquerade and I see where I’ve gone from a PERFECT 5 start rating down to a 4 1/2. Now, I am not some delusional author who expects everyone to love my work and give me kudos and 5 stars. I know there are going to be some people who don’t vibe with my style of writing which is fine. Everything ain’t for every body. But if you are going to 1 star me BITCH you better show me where I ldmreviewearned that shit. I was expecting a three star rating or something like that. Maybe the plot twists were too much for them to handle or

What The Fuck, bitch, really?
What The Fuck, bitch, really?

whatever. This bitch didn’t even finish reading the book! Was it for too many grammatical errors, you ask? (nope) Was it because the story-line was too far-fetched or outlandish? (nope) Was it because the book didn’t make sense or seemed amateurish and incomplete??? (NOPE!!) This bitch 1 starred me because I had too much profanity! What The FuckDA FUCK? Listen, I had to read her review like three times, like is this bitch serious? I can only think of one movie with a domestic violence type plot where there was no profanity and that was “Sleeping With The Enemy” starring Julia Roberts and that movie was so unbelievable in regards to what really goes down in an abusive relationship I wouldn’t know where to poke holes in the story-line. For God’s sake, Roberts jumped off a fucking boat in the middle of Hurricane Katrina and swam to shore, conveniently had a stash of cash, threw a wig on, hopped a bus all the way to east Jablip somewhere, was able to rent a home with NO What The FuckID NO SOCIAL SECURITY CARD NO PROOF OF INCOME but the bitch couldn’t make sure when she flushed the ring down the toilet the shit actually went down? Da Fuck? I’m going to assume Joanne thought that movie was amazing and Julia Roberts was cunning and courageous. Meanwhile What’s Love Got to Do with It- Tina Turners biopic about how Ike Turner was beating the snot out of her in between calling her bitches and raping her in music studios probably made Joanne’s eyes fall out and sent her screaming to the Priest asking God to forgive her for indulging in such an animalistic film. And God forbid she ever read Rose Madder by Stephen King, who started the book off with Rose’s husband, Norman, dishing out Mike Tyson blows that caused her to have a miscarriage in their living room all for reading a romance novel. And as poor Rose’s baby is vacating her womb while she sits in a pool of fetal blood, this bastard is making and munching on a ham sandwich. See no evil, eh?

Anybody with half of a brain knows that domestic violence isn’t pretty. If it were, it wouldn’t be domestic violence. It’s definitely not limited to a man just slapping his woman in the face now and again or pulling her hair. It’s grimy, its ugly and to a person who does not lack a conscience, it can easily bring you to tears when you hear and/or see some of the things a lot of women go through every single day. I made sure I captured that in this book. I spared no punches with the descriptive way I told this story from start to finish and if it’s too much for a person who lives in a PG-13 world, too FUCKING bad (yup I said FUCKING not FREAKING) because the world isn’t PG-13. For many of us, the shit is NC-17 even when we try our best to avoid it. So while little Ms. Daisies and sunshine  may think that what went on in this book with the profanity and the abuse and the way Eric talked to Vanessa was trash because I used FUCK and BITCH and SHIT and GOT-DAMN and NIGGA, like Freddy Kruegar said in almost every Nightmare on Elm Street movie: Welcome to my world, bitch. This shit is real. And hiding behind your cotton candy bubblicious existence won’t make it any less real.

I do want to thank her. Because she gave me an idea to put a warning at the top of Love’s Deadly Masquerade’s book description letting readers know that if they have sensitive eyes and are too delicate to handle profanity and the descriptive manner in which I described the way Eric was beating the shit out of Vanessa and tormenting her, exit now and go find something else more happy-happy, joy-joy.  I won’t change my style of writing because a few sensitive creatures can’t handle what goes on in the world outside of Beverly Hills 90210. Not catering to my personal art-form would be a disservice to my art, my talent, my craft and myself. I don’t see Stephen King making any apologies for the creepy shit he writes. (I love Stephen King by the way LOL) Alright, that’s my rant for the night. I will see you darlings next time! Peace.

For those of you who don’t have sensitive eyes and can handle reading a very real story with real like characters in real life situations, check out Love’s Deadly Masquerade on Amazon Kindle for $5.99. If you are a Kindle Unlimited subscriber, you can download it and read it for free. Then give me your opinion on the STORY itself. I’m all for legit reviews. If you think the story-line and plot was trash, I’m eager to hear why. Because those who gave me three stars on A Thug’s Redemption were legitimate and their opinions helped me work on my craft which is why The Wrath of Andre and Obsessive Intimacies are damn near perfect 5 star reads. Keep in mind that I’m an artist, and I’m serious about my shit!

…Jamal’s phone rang. He leaned upward so he could pull it from his back pocket and saw that it was his father calling him.

“Speak of the devil… sorry,” Tiffany grimaced.

Jamal chuckled. “It’s cool, babe.” He answered the phone. “Yeah pops, what’s up?”

“I was waiting to see if you were going to call me but you took too long. What are you doing?” Andre asked his son.

“I was talking to Tiff. We were supposed to go to dinner tonight…”

Andre cut him off. “Talking to Tiff? Son, you were almost blown to smithereens tonight and you’re chit-chatting with your wife like it’s all gravy?”

“Dad…” Jamal sighed.

“There’s a price on your head. The less you say to Tiffany the better, you know that. You know that! This isn’t just you anymore, son. You have a wife and a son and these muthafuckas got zero fucks to give when it comes to taking out a target. Bitches and kids can get it, too.”

Jamal looked at his phone with a frown.

“I’m not calling Tiff a bitch, ‘Mal. Chill out.” Andre replied as though he could see his son’s facial expression. Jamal shook his head.

“Put your dad on speaker,” Tiff said. Jamal shook his head no at her and she squeezed the part of his neck she was rubbing. Jamal winced in pain.

“Alright, woman!” he grimaced. Tiffany chuckled and kissed his cheek. Jamal put his father on speaker phone and held the phone up.

“Hi, Dad!” Tiff perked.

Andre shook his head. Though he liked Tiffany and thought she was perfect for Jamal as well as a great wife and mother to their child, he believed she had no business knowing about or being a part of this upcoming battle. “How you doing, Little Lady?”

“I’m fine. Just trying to keep your son safe and happy.”

“Tiff, I know you love my son and you’ve already shown that you have his back no matter what. But this business is not your business and for your safety and my grandson’s safety, it cannot be your business. Do you understand?”

“Jamal is my business. That makes whatever this is my business as well,” Tiffany said firmly.

“Do you want to see your son in a coffin, Tiffany? Do you want your son to see you in a coffin? Do you want my son to see you and Jamir in coffins? Because he tasted that defeat before, I’m betting he won’t be able to handle the taste of that kind of defeat again. And I don’t think you or your son deserve that either. So again, this cannot be your business. Do you understand?”

Tiffany thought on his words which caused her to be slow to respond.

“Tiffany,” Andre said with base in his voice causing her to jump. “Do you understand?” he asked again, slowly.

“Yes sir. I understand.” Tiffany shook her head. Jamal grabbed her hand and kissed her palm as he waited for his father to speak.

“Both of you listen to me and when I’m done, take me off of speaker phone, Jamal.”

“Okay, Dad.”

“A call has already been made to your superiors with the Cheltenham School District, Tiff. You are officially on a leave of absence. Pack you and Jamir’s bags, because you’re going on a vacation,” Andre instructed. “Get off of speaker phone.”

“Wait…” Tiffany stammered, bewildered by what Andre said. Jamal shushed her as he took his phone off of speaker and stood up.

“You’re slipping, Jamal.” Andre warned.

“How you figure, Dad?” Jamal replied as he began to pace.

“A hit was put out on you and your partner tonight and you went home to chit-chat with your wife. Do you want to die? Are you out of your fucking mind? And then you start telling her about what was in the file like they won’t tap your shit to see what you know. What the fuck were you thinking?” Andre scolded.

“I wasn’t…” Jamal started.

“That’s right, you weren’t thinking.” Andre cut him off. He blew out air as he tried to calm himself. “You cannot involve her in this.”

“She’s my wife, Dad.” Jamal replied as he glanced at Tiffany.

“You CANNOT involve her in this. Be ready in ten minutes. I’m on my way. We’ve already been on the phone too long.” Andre disconnected the call and Jamal closed his eyes.

“I’m not leaving you,” Tiffany said as she stood up.

“You are,” Jamal replied.

“Jamal…”

“Tiff!” Jamal said loudly making her jump. He had never raised his voice at her before. She looked at him as though he had lost his mind. “I can’t do this with you and my son here. I can’t do this if I’m constantly worried about you, if I’m constantly worried about him.”

“We’ve been through this before,” Tiff argued.

“Yeah and you almost died.”

“But I didn’t.”

“You think because you shot a couple niggas, that you a gangsta now, is that it?”

“No, I’m not saying that. But Jamal, haven’t you learned anything yet? Hiding me and Jamir away is not the answer. It didn’t work with Tamera and your brother…”

Jamal looked at her with fire in his eyes. “Don’t,” he said coldly. “You pulled that card last time and I listened to you. You almost got killed. It’s not just you this time. It’s Jamir too, and I will not put him at risk because you think you have to be this ride or die chick. I don’t need you to be my ride or die chick. I need you to be my wife and a mother to Jamir.”

“I am your wife and a mother to our son, what are you talking about?!” Tiffany argued.

“Then don’t fight me on this, Tiff.” Jamal said loudly, silencing her.

They stared at each other for a moment before Tiffany finally gave in. As much as her gut told her not to leave him, he was her husband and she believed he knew best, so she submitted to him. Jamal put his arms around her and held her tightly.

“I love you, Tiff. I don’t want anything to happen to you or our son.”

“I love you too, babe.” Tiff replied back. They held each other a little longer just listening to one another breathe. Finally, Jamal let her go.

“Go grab some things for you and ‘Mir real quick. Dad will be here in a few minutes,” he instructed her.

“Okay,” Tiffany replied quietly before heading upstairs to their bedrooms. She grabbed a Louie Vutton duffle bag and threw a few pairs of jeans, shirts and lounge-wear inside along with her under clothes and personal items. She was about to walk out of their bedroom when she saw a picture of her and Jamal on the mirror. His arms were around her and he was nibbling on her cheek while she laughed. The moment was so perfect. She pulled the picture from the mirror and stared at it for a while longer. She then heard the doorbell and knew that had to be Andre so she rushed to Jamir’s bedroom and grabbed some of his clothes along with his favorite stuffed froggy and a couple of bedtime stories that he liked.

“Tiff, we gotta roll babe, come on.” Jamal yelled up the stairs.

“I’m coming,” she yelled back to him. She looked around making sure she didn’t forget anything and then turned Jamir’s bedroom light out before closing the door behind her.

“Where’s Lil Man?” Andre asked.

“He’s with Deisha and Maurice. They were going to let him sleep over so me and Tiff could have a quiet night,” Jamal replied as he opened a small closet in the dining room. In the wall behind a few cases of water was a safe. Jamal opened it quickly and pulled some cash as well as a gun and two clips from it.

“I see Norman taught you well,” Andre smirked remembering the similar set up in his deceased brother’s home.

“Hell yeah,” Jamal replied as he quickly counted out five thousand. He handed the money to Tiffany. “No debit or credit card transactions. You understand me?” he said firmly. Tiffany nodded her head and put the money in her purse. He then handed her the gun and out of habit, she checked to make sure the clip was fully loaded and then chambered a round.

“Because a girl can’t be too safe in these crime ridden times,” she said, repeating what Jamal always taught her when he first began taking her to the shooting range in the beginning of their relationship. Andre smiled at her as he watched her put the safety on and stick it in the pants holster that she slipped on while she was upstairs.

“Alright, let’s go pick up Lil Man…” before Andre had a chance to finish what he was saying, a gun went off hitting him in the chest. He fell back into the table and slid to the floor.

“Dad!” Jamal yelled out. Tiffany snatched her gun from her waist and began shooting at two men coming through the front door. One of them pulled out a sawed off shot gun and Jamal pushed her behind the island.

“Go out the back,” Andre grimaced as he pulled both of his guns. “I’m okay, I have my vest on.” He fired over the top of the island to give them room to run. The two shooters jumped back and ducked. One had already been hit by Tiffany’s quick shooting. Though he had a vest on, it ripped through the side and he was bleeding profusely but still trying to go for the assigned kills.

Andre peeked from behind the counter and shot off a few more rounds. “Go!” he yelled to them. Jamal pulled his gun from his waist and they crawled hurriedly over to the basement door with Tiff heading down first. Jamal took a quick glance back at his father not wanting to leave him there when he heard Tiff’s gun go off in the basement. The loud boom from her glock caused him to jump. He snatched her by arm and jerked her back into the kitchen. They were trapped with a couple of guys coming through the basement and the one guy left in the living room. Tiffany fired into the living room to give herself a chance to jump to the next wall. She dumped her empty clip and put another one in as she looked at Jamal. Jamal nodded at her…

I can’t stress how important it is for readers to leave a review for an author after they’ve read the book whether you liked the book or not. Good feedback most definitely leads to more sales because it makes the next reader curious about the story that was written. Sometimes, bad feedback can have the same effect because readers may want to know if they’ll feel the same way (depending on the detail of the bad feedback). But bad feedback (depending on what’s said- sometimes it’s constructive, sometimes it’s just pure hate!) can help a writer perfect his or her own craft to turn out an even better book next time.

Something Thuggish This Way Comes- An Update

Something Thuggish This Way Comes
Something Thuggish This Way Comes

Hello everyone, and thanks for stopping by my blog. I just want to give a quick update on what’s popping with this awesome new book that I will be releasing very soon. As I said in the last post, the ending to Love’s Deadly Masquerade sparked an idea and all kinds of creative juices started flowing. Before I knew it, yet another movie was playing in my head I couldn’t write out what was happening fast enough! Nine days later, A Thug’s Life Revisited was born and it is definitely some hotness!
I’m still on the fence with this Kindle Unlimited thing and I haven’t decided if I want to put this book in the program for a little bit to see how it does and then place it every where else or if I just want to place it everywhere else and say screw KDP. The jury is still out on that. But I will let my readers know that A Thug’s Life Revisited is now available for pre-order on Amazon Kindle as well as through my website for my readers who enjoy a paperback novel versus an ebook. Now I know some of you may say, what’s the point of doing a pre-sale on Amazon? It’s not like the site is going to run out of copies of ebooks. That is very true. However, pre-sales help with ranking and who wouldn’t want to get a jump on being on a best seller’s list? There is also a best seller’s list for pre-sales and being high enough on that list could transfer over to being on the official best seller’s list when the book comes out. It’s more so beneficial for the author. I like to make it beneficial for my readers as well by giving those who are not apart of kindle unlimited the opportunity to get a discount on my book before it comes out. So the pre-sale price is $2.99 and when the book drops, it will go to the regular price of $5.99. I am also offering a discount on paperback pre-order copies by not only placing it under a discount price of $10.00 (plus free shipping when the book drops) but also leaking a lengthy preview to those who pre-orders the book from my site. So you save $5 on the pre-order not to mention, you get the scoop on what’s happening in the book before everybody else! And trust me, it’s a scoop you wont want to miss.
So now you’re saying- “Okay, so hook us up with the link then, what’s up!?”
For those who want to get their pre-order from Amazon Kindle, Follow this link
For those who want to get their paperback and ebook pre-order which includes free shipping for paperback and a lengthy sneak preview, Follow this link.
I also want to let you guys know that I worked diligently yesterday (14 hours) re-formatting all of my books and converting them to epub so they can be purchased directly from my site. Visit TheAuthorYani.com and go to the Shop tab which has a drop down menu for you to select either paperbacks or ebooks. All epub books have been tested on various devices (nook, kindle, android phones {Samsung, LG, Nexus} as well as apple devices to make sure that the appearance of the epub books were neat and professional looking as well as easy to read, easy to access, and easy to download. So you can now purchase your ebooks directly from me no matter WHAT device you enjoy reading from. (Hits my Cabbage Patch) How dope is that?!
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog again. I just watched Thursdays episode of Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal earlier today and will post a blog entry about it tomorrow. That Scandal episode was FLAMES! I’m not going to get into it now because a sister is about to bust a SERIOUS grub. But stayed tuned, I will be posting my take on TGIT soon. Later, loves!

Kindle Unlimited Program- Is it Worth It or Nah?

To enlist your titles into Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited Program, or to not enlist your titles, that is the question…

For the last two weeks, I have been researching the Kindle Unlimited Program and the new way it is paying authors through Kindle Edition Normalized Pages Read (KENP) and I found a few articles that (at first) had me excited about the possible pay out, and then I came across some other blogs and articles that had me scratching my head like “What the F#?@?” I’m telling y’all now, Amazon thinks they’re slick as shit.

For those who don’t know, Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited Program is like an All You Can Eat Buffet for readers. For $9.99/month, you can download a ton of books. For the chronic reader who reads 6-10 books per week (that used to be me before I started having children lol), that’s like a cause for a literary orgasm. Meanwhile, there may be folks who just download a whole bunch of titles with the intent to read them, but due to their schedule and whatever they have going on in their lives at the moment, they don’t get around to them until days, weeks, hell maybe even months after the initial download. Before KUP switched over to the KENP method, Amazon used to pay authors the portion of their book’s earnings (after their cut of course) as long as 10% of the book was read. So for someone who had a 150 page book priced at $2.99 on kindle, as long as the person who downloaded it read the first 15 pages, the author was paid $2.09 for that book. So if 200 people downloaded that book and read at least the first 10% of that book, that author made  $418 off of that title. Now enter the KENP program where an author no longer gets paid for the 10% of the book that was read. They are paid per page read, and some articles are calculating that Amazon is paying $0.005 and $0.004 per page! How the hell do you pay half of a cent per page? Now let’s go back to the same book. The calculations that Amazon used was this: If 200 people read the 150 page book completely, that’s 30,000 pages read. The KUP fund for the month of March is $14 million. The number of pages read in February across the board was 1.9 billion. So you would multiply 30,000 pages read by $14 million which is 420,000,000,000 then you would divide that by 1.9 billion (assuming this is the total number of pages read for March as it was in February.)  The author now is paid $221.05. So instead of getting paid $418 from those 200 people who downloaded the book, they are only getting paid $221.05. That’s a $196.95 loss that the author is taking on their work. Now some of you may say, well that’s fair considering it’s cutting down on a lot of readers that would just skim past the first 10% of the book to insure an author was paid for their download. Others may say, “Well, for authors who list their titles at $0.99, that would actually be a come up.” To me, that’s hustling backwards, and I will get into the whole $0.99 ebook sale bid in a minute. Let’s break this math down a little more so you can understand why I said in the opening paragraph that Amazon thinks they’re slick as shit.

As I stated above, KUP subscribers can read unlimited books for $9.99/month. Let’s say that the same 200 people signed up for KUP. Amazon has just made $1,998. Those same 200 subscribers downloaded your book and read every single page. You received $221.05 of that $1,998.00. It seems fair to me that if it is a requirement for a reader to read every single page of your book, that the author should be paid as though it was a purchase- $2.09 instead of what totals to be $1.10 per downloaded copy which is $1.01 less than the earnings of an actual purchased copy of your book!

Now let’s look at my book “Love’s Deadly Masquerade. My book is listed at $4.99 on Kindle and it is a full length novel at 374 pages for paper back copy and 342 Kindle Edition Normalized Pages. So far this month I have 36,432 pages read. Using the same calculations from above, my royalties under the KENP method would be $268.45. However, that averages out to be about 107 people (possibly) who read my book cover to cover. If I were paid under the old Kindle Program method or if those downloads were seen as a complete purchase my royalties for that book alone would be $373.43 which means I am taking a $104.98 hit. The only way it would seem like I am being paid a greater amount under KENP versus the original method or not enlisting my titles in the KUP program at all is if I were to price this book at $0.99 and that shit’s not happening. That’s what I would call, hustling backwards.

I initially was against putting my books in KUP because I didn’t like the condition that books in the KUP could not be sold anywhere else as an ebook. I believed that was stupid because not everybody reads on kindle. Some people actually hate kindle! I would be excluding possible nook, kobo, Google Play, and ibook readers making my titles exclusively available through Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited Program. What is beginning to piss me off is this: Why should I make my titles exclusive to Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited Program only to take an undercut in my royalty payments? Why should I undersell my work to make it seem like I’m coming out on the better end of this bullshit program when I know my work is worth more and I’m (along with many other authors probably) are being robbed blind in this bullshit program. It’s like a card table at the casino where the house always wins. Amazon is the house that we are gambling in and they are winning, not us. I, like many other authors, work too hard to put my stories together and I know my worth. So like any relationship where I feel as though I’m being played, or taken advantage of, I’m out. Amazon can kick rocks, and take that KENP method and shove it up their ass! And any other author who values their work ought to do the same thing.

So, Nook, Kobo, ibook, Google Books and other e-readers, I will be adding my titles to your sites by April 1st. So long KUP. Thanks, but no thanks…

Something Thuggish This Way Comes….

For those of you who have already read Love’s Deadly Masquerade, the ending may have given you the impression that another installment to A Thug’s Redemption was coming. Well, you are partially correct. Jamal, D-Ball, Andre and some of the other characters are back in another book and it’s called “A Thug’s Life Revisited.” Can y’all believe I wrote this book in 9 days?! Nine mutha-flubbin days!! That’s the fastest that I’ve ever written a full length novel! Before this, I wrote A Thug’s Redemption 3: The Wrath of Andre in three weeks and A Thug’s Redemption 2: Jamal’s Return in five weeks. I’m proud of myself.

A Thug's Life RevisitedI hate to be the bearer of bad news but one of the main characters from A Thug’s Redemption dies in this one. I know, I know! How could I do such a thing?! Cold hearted bitch, right? (sigh) I write what I see. And I saw one of them die. If I don’t write what I see, I won’t be able to write the book. It’s kinda like going against the grain, ya know? Who’s the guy on the cover with the gun, you ask? Remember D-Ball from the original series? Well let’s just say he’s uh… pissed in this book. I’m sure you all recognize Jamal from the other covers.

So I’m going to give you guys a little taste of what’s to come, so you have an idea of how juicy and action packed this book is. It sure to take you on a hell of an emotional ride from start to finish. But I’m positive you guys will love reading it just as much as I enjoyed writing it.

It was another long day at the office for Jamal. He was completely swamped with a few cases that he and his partner Dante had recently closed out. Earlier during the day, a young man who only gave him the name George, had given him a package. With the size of his workload, he hadn’t had a chance to look through what was in the thick envelope. Jamal decided that he would put it off until the next day so he could get home in time to have dinner with his wife, Tiffany. Their two-year-old son was having a sleep over with Deisha and Maurice’s two children so they could finally have some alone time together. He promised Dante he would drop him off at home first.

“Yo homie, you ready to roll?” Dante asked as he approached Jamal’s desk.

“Yeah man, I was just finishing up,” Jamal replied as he stood up. He threw his jacket on and was about to walk away from his desk when he remembered the envelope that was given to him by George earlier that day. He snatched it up and he and Dante headed out of the precinct together.

“You never checked out what was in the envelope that dude gave to you earlier?” Dante asked as they walked over to the parking lot.

“Nah, I said I would look at it tomorrow since I’m off. Dude was real secretive about it like it was some Mission: Impossible type shit. It was weird.” He and Dante chuckled. Jamal took out his keys and hit the keyless starter. As soon as the car started, an explosion erupted lifting the car from the ground. The explosion caused multiple car alarms to go off and the blast knocked Jamal and Dante back into a wall. Jamal’s ears were ringing and his head and back hurt. Dante slowly moved to his knees and looked at Jamal in disbelief. Jamal looked at him wide-eyed.

“What the fuck was that?!” Dante yelled. Other cops ran from the precinct to see what happened.

Jamal shook his head with a look of shock written over his face. “Your guess is as good as mine.”

“Nah fuck this. You’re looking at that file tonight! Whatever is in it, they don’t want you to see it.” Dante grimaced. “Here we go again with this bullshit.”

Sirens from firetrucks and ambulances could be heard approaching the scene. A Sergeant from IAB stood in the window of the fifth floor looking down at what was going on. His cell phone rang.

“This is Rutkowski,” he answered as he continued to stare down below.

“What’s the result?” a male asked on the other end.

“Targets were missed. We’ll get them though,” Sergeant Rutkowski replied.

“That’s not the answer we were expecting,” the man on the phone said.

“I know, sir. My apologies.”

“Save your apologies. Next time, be more efficient.” The man disconnected the call and Rutkowski put his phone back in his pocket. He continued to stare down at the scenery as the fire fighters put out the flames to Jamal’s 2015 Acura RDX as he plotted on his next move against Jamal Williams and Dante Smith.

Love’s Deadly Masquerade

The day that I have been waiting for has finally arrived. (Hits my Cabbage Patch) Yeaaaaaah boooooyyyyyy! (in my Flava Flav voice) Love’s Deadly Masquerade is officially out and it is already generating buzz! This is what Online Book Club had to say:

…The writing style is raw and evocative. The vivid and (mercifully) short descriptions of the various forms of tortures that Eric inflicts on Vanessa are particularly hard-hitting. Then there are those glimpses into Vanessa’s psyche which are particularly impactful, for example, when she wonders whether God is making her experience firsthand how shallow was her viewpoint on domestic violence, and perhaps God is punishing her for believing what she would have done in such a situation without ever understanding how overpowering the fear of violence is.
